Our History

What does Rubicon mean?

The Cambridge dictionary defines it as a noun:

to do something that you cannot later change and will strongly influence future events.

This was certainly the case in 1966 when Rubicon's founders signed on the dotted line, embarking on a journey that still lives today.

Located along the mighty Mississippi in Geismar, LA,  Rubicon is a joint venture between two global leaders, Huntsman and Lanxess.

Rubicon is a leader in the polyurethane industry and employs more than 700 associates and contractors annually.  The site is located on approximately 81 acres and is the home of seven production units.  On average Rubicon produces 440  kilotons of MDI annually.
